An organic chest rub for the early months.
€40.0030ml · glass jar
A small-batch salve for the chest, for the first three months. Made for postpartum specifically — the one stage when a baby's lungs and a mother's chest are most often in contact, and the most common over-the-counter formulas use ingredients we wouldn't recommend that close to a newborn.
Six ingredients. Hand-poured in Ericeira. Made in batches of forty.
Nothing else. No fragrance, no preservatives, no fillers. If you can’t pronounce it, it shouldn’t be in the jar.
Organic shea butter
Vitellaria paradoxa
The base. Cold-pressed, unrefined, sourced from a women's cooperative in Ghana.
Organic calendula
Calendula officinalis
Infused into olive oil for six weeks. Skin-soothing for both mother and baby.
Organic lavender
Lavandula angustifolia
A drop of essential oil for calm — well below the conservative pediatric threshold.
Beeswax
Cera alba
From a small Portuguese apiary. Holds the salve together; lets it melt at body temperature.
Organic chamomile
Matricaria chamomilla
Infused with the calendula. Anti-inflammatory and gentle.
Vitamin E
Tocopherol
Plant-derived. A natural preservative that extends shelf life without synthetics.
I made the first batch for my own postpartum. I had a baby on my chest most hours of the day, and I couldn't find a salve I felt good about that close to a newborn's face. The formulas I trusted were either pharmaceutical or full of essential oils above the pediatric threshold. So I made one with a midwife in Ericeira.
Two years later, clients kept asking for it. So I make a small batch every few weeks, and we sell what we have. When it's gone, it's gone until the next batch. That's the whole apothecary.
