These Terms of Service govern your use of ambanutrition.com and the services of Ambã Nutrition, a 1-on-1 functional nutrition practice operated by Shannon Strickland, Functional Nutrition Counsellor, based in Ericeira, Portugal.

By using this site, contacting us, booking a consultation, or purchasing a product, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.

1. Important: this is not medical advice

Functional nutrition counselling is a complement to medical care, not a replacement for it. Shannon is a Functional Nutrition Counsellor (FNC) certified through the Functional Nutrition Alliance — she is not a medical doctor, registered dietitian, midwife, or mental-health professional.

The information on this site, in our newsletter, and during consultations is for educational and informational purposes only. It is not a diagnosis, prescription, or treatment plan. It does not replace the advice of a qualified healthcare professional.

Always consult your doctor, midwife, or specialist before making changes to your diet, supplementation, or lifestyle — particularly if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, taking medication, or managing a medical condition.

If you experience a medical emergency, contact your local emergency services. Do not use this site or wait for a reply from us.

2. Consultations

Consultations are booked by mutual agreement, after a free 20-minute introductory call. By engaging Shannon as a consultant, you confirm that:

• You are 18 years of age or older.
• You understand that functional nutrition counselling complements, but does not replace, medical care.
• You will share relevant medical information honestly so we can do useful work together.
• You will continue to follow the advice of your medical providers and consult them before acting on any nutrition guidance offered during consultations.

Outcomes are not guaranteed.Functional nutrition works with the body’s biology, which is complex and individual. We will share what the bloodwork and your stage suggest, but we cannot guarantee specific outcomes from any protocol.

Cancellation and rescheduling

You may reschedule or cancel a paid consultation up to 24 hours in advance at no charge. Within 24 hours, the session is non-refundable (the time has already been reserved for you). Exceptions are made for genuine emergencies — just let us know.

3. Apothecary products

We sell a small range of food, herbal, and topical products under the Ambã Apothecary. All are made in small batches in Portugal. By purchasing, you agree to the following:

• These are not medicines. They are food and topical wellness products and have not been evaluated by the European Medicines Agency, INFARMED, the FDA, or any equivalent authority. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
• Allergens. Each product page lists every ingredient. If you have allergies or sensitivities, read the list before purchase. We are happy to answer questions before you buy.
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding.Some products are designed for these stages; others are not. Check each product’s “Best for” field, and consult your doctor or midwife if you’re unsure.
• Storage. Each product page lists storage and shelf-life information. Following it is your responsibility.

Prices, currency, and shipping

Prices are listed in Euro and include applicable Portuguese VAT unless stated otherwise. Shipping costs and estimated delivery windows are shown at checkout. International orders may be subject to import duties or customs charges, which are the buyer’s responsibility.

Returns

Because our apothecary products are food, herbal, or topical consumables made in small batches, we do not accept returns of opened products for hygiene and safety reasons. If a product arrives damaged or defective, contact us within 7 days of delivery at info@ambanutrition.com and we will arrange a replacement or refund.

EU consumers retain their statutory right to withdraw from a distance purchase within 14 days for unopened, unused goods, in line with Portuguese consumer law.

4. Payment

Consultations and apothecary purchases are paid through Stripe, our payment processor. Stripe handles card details under its own PCI-DSS obligations; we never see or store your full card information. Receipts are sent by email.

5. Intellectual property

The text, photography, design, and original content on this site are the property of Ambã Nutrition unless otherwise noted, and are protected by copyright. You’re welcome to read, share links, and quote short excerpts with attribution. Please ask before reproducing larger sections.

Recipes, protocols, and personalised guidance shared during consultations are for your use only. Please don’t republish or resell them.

6. Reasonable use of the site

Don’t use the site to do anything illegal, to abuse the contact form, to scrape content at scale, or to interfere with the site’s normal operation. We may restrict access if we believe the site is being misused.

7. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ambã Nutrition is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from your use of the site or services. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, or any other matter that cannot lawfully be limited under Portuguese or EU consumer law.

Our liability for any direct loss arising from the apothecary products is limited to the price you paid for the specific product in question.

8. Privacy

How we handle your personal information is described in our Privacy Policy. By using the site, you consent to that handling.

9. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent change. Your continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal. Any dispute that cannot be resolved by good-faith discussion will be brought before the courts of the judicial district of Lisbon, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have where you live.
